介绍：本剧改编自杰夫•林赛的小说《暗夜噩梦戴克斯特》。剧中的主角戴克斯特•摩根白天是迈阿密警局的一名快乐的法医，但是这份职业只是他真实身份的一种掩护。每当黑夜降临时，戴克斯特就释放出他内心那头嗜血的怪物，去追捕那些自以为可以逍遥法外的罪犯。戴克斯特进行法外制裁，更基本的原因是他嗜血，他必须杀人（为了让“嗜血症”看起来更真实，故事里还进行了很多生物学和遗传学的解释）。只是为了不触犯正义，不在道德上越线，只是因为戴克斯特父亲的刻意培养，他才转而去屠杀那些传统意义上的“坏人”。这一切都是被动的，这个设定其实是非常不主流的。《嗜血判官》在悄悄推广的观点是，“你可以不用刻意压制自己的不正常欲望”。
